Mrs. Boccino's 2nd Grade class came to visit for readers' theater this morning. We were a great audience while we listened to their great reading. Thanks to our generous families we enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast and enjoyed playing Turkey, Turkey, Farmer (Duck, Duck, Goose) and making a turkey. Thank you, Mrs. Lydon, Mrs. Uhrich, Mrs. Missig, and Mrs. Fahey! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
We discussed and practiced different ways to read with partners today (see saw, choral, echo). We also sang "On Thanksgiving". This is a fun interactive song in which we can change the food words each time we sing it. We point to each word as we sing it. In math, we continue to work on representing numbers in a variety of ways.
Each students is getting ready to publish their second book of the year. We learned that "revising" means to add more and make it better. We can do this by add to the illustration, the labels, and the sentences. We want to give lots of information to our reader. We worked on positional words in math and did a mini-obstacle course. We watched a funny video about a monkey that reviewed positional vocabulary. It allows the students to read along as well. Check it out with your child! Today we measured items around our classroom. We learned math words like longer, shorter, wider and equal.
We enjoyed another "Mrs. Wishy-Washy" book today. We are learning to first, read the pictures and then, the words. Facial expression and body language tell us a lot about how are characters are feeling. We are writing a class book about our families. You are all famous and will featured in this book. Thank you to Mrs. Missig for reading to KKG! Such a fun and informative book.
